The woman who took on Koch Industries to save her farm
I met this woman and her husband in East Glacier, MT in the summer of 2009. They commented on how small the tomato plants were in that cold climate and I asked where they hailed from, to learn that I grew up about half an hour from their farm and they knew exactly where my house was. We talked of the Wedge Coop using their farm while they took some time off and they sent me on the train to Portland, OR with Minnesota organically grown tomatoes and cucumbers.
I am excited to read her book and learn about her struggle. Gales Meadow Farm and the Gales Creek community, where I lived and worked for the 2010 and 2011 seasons, has also lived through the struggle of fighting the Palomar Pipeline threatening to dissect their land.
