Video Report from NYC: Farmers v Monsanto
Sadly I was unable to attend this rally outside the OSGATA vs. Monsanto hearing on January 31st, but here is a video from those who were there. Also, I want to say that regardless of one’s stance on GMO or transgenic crops it should be known that this hearing and any subsequent hearings of the same case are important because what they are fighting is the current legality of Monsanto suing farmers for owning patented seed (that they would rather not possess) simply because it was pollinated through the natural methods of wind and insects. It just isn’t right.
For more information about previous trials in which Monsanto sued farmers for possessing patented seed you can google “Monsanto Lawsuits against farmers”, read what Monsanto has to say about themselves, check out the Wikipedia page, or watch The Future of Food.
Information about the current trial is best found at www.osgata.org and www.pubpat.org. Also my previous posts of radio interviews give a great overview of the reasons for the case and the approach OSGATA is taking in fighting the patent.
Also, if you are interested in the right to know whether or not Genetically Modified Crops are in your food supply, just to know, not to ban them, check out the Just Label It campaign and tell the FDA it’s important to you.
