Katie and Kale: Promoting Food Transparency in Portland

Hello Everyone and particularly Portlanders (Oregon that is, although I hear Maine is quite lovely too.)

It has been a wonderfully misty day, with snow melting and refreezing as ice and that classic grey cloudy sky with soft light that makes you want to sit inside by the wood stove and sip tea or coffee, yet you know it’s best to take in as much outside time as possible and soak in the filtered Vitamin D.

As you may know I am currently in New York and describing the day here, but it draws my thoughts back to Oregon and thus I wanted to share with you the captivating blog of an Oregon Real Time Farms Food Warrior.

Scroll down to October 25, 2011 and you’ll find me weeding a field with a stirrup hoe at my old home of Gales Meadow Farm. Or just read in Katie’s eloquent writing about all of the other wonderful food happenings in and around Portland, OR.

If I haven’t grabbed your attention yet, here are Katie’s words about herself and the page…

As an intern with Real Time Farms, I'm on a quest to promote food transparency
in Portland. I'll be out in the fields and the markets, getting intimate with
the fruits and veggies that travel to your markets, your restaurants, and
your plates.

I have a B.F.A. in Writing, Literature, and Publishing from Emerson College.
I like bicycles, coffee, and kale chips.
Enjoy!
