Sunday (January 8th) Brunch with the Brother

My brother arrived at 2am Sunday morning after driving over fifteen hours from Chicago in a single day (and eight from Minnesota the day before). 

I milked at 5am and had two meals before coming in at noon and waking him to this lunch…

  • Another hummus open faced sandwich with sprouts and curry kraut
  • Soup made from a pork shoulder I cooked down in a crock pot with onions, garlic, coriander, cumin, basil, black pepper and salt. Then reheated adding lemon juice, Siracha, Braggs liquid aminos, apple cider vinegar, ginger, and more garlic.   
  • A side of carrots and radishes with hummus
  • three orange slices, and
  • a glass of Simply Nutritious Mega Green.

It was wonderful eating and spending some time together since I hadn’t seen him in over a year. He then came down to the barn with a chocolate croissant and stayed in the barn with me the whole time during milking and let the cows out of their stanchions afterward. He then departed for Bennington, VT and his fieldwork term internship after we got a beer and dinner at the Main Street Public House in Philmont. I’m excited to be living so close during at least the next six months.
